Save The Mangrove is a baby of Discover Arabia and was founded save the planet with a focus on sustaining mangrove forest. The project recently reiterated its goal of saving the planet one Mangrove Forest at a time as it set to commence an innovative initiative in Qatar with the launch of a Save The Mangrove project to save the Mangrove forest in Qatar. A Crowdfunding Campaign has been launched to support the project and help to sustain one of the most important ecosystems on the earth.
Studies have revealed that mangrove forests are increasingly endangered with about 35% of all mangroves dying in the last two decades. Qatar has one of the most unique and special mangrove forests in the world, particularly as it exists simultaneously with the desert. The forest is responsible for maintaining Qatar’s fisheries, carbon fixation and important habitat for various wildlife animals. The mangroves also provide a wonderful teaching model, anchoring the soil to cause tidal rivers to be created along Qatar’s coasts. Unfortunately, this unique ecosystem is not from the threat of extinction that has engulfed other mangrove forests. This is where Save The Mangrove has been able looking to make a difference for more than one decade.
The group created outdoor educational activities and a team to educate people about the mangrove ecosystems. Some of the activities organized by the group include experiential learning and other such activities to teach the public on how to properly take care of the environment.
The project involves Mangrove clean up, Mangrove Replanting, Mangrove planting, and volunteer education, offering a comprehensive approach to saving the planet and sustaining the most important ecosystem in the world.
