The collection features a stunning range of sheer and transparent fabrics, representing the profound personal journey Matthew has embarked on over the past two years. Like many, Matthew faced challenges and loss due to the pandemic, resulting in the dissolution of his previous fashion studio and installation space. However, through his indomitable spirit and creative vision, Matthew chose to embrace minimal resources and start afresh. With an extensive background in both womenswear and self-taught expertise in menswear, Matthew’s designs seamlessly blend artistic techniques acquired over nine years of dedicated learning in various craft disciplines, including fur design, leathercraft, accessory design, 3-D embellishment, corsetry, millinery, and patterning. His journey includes graduating from the highly competitive fine arts program at The School of the Art Institute Chicago, where he was awarded the Merit Scholarship.
Reflecting on the roots of his fashion journey, Matthew shares, “My passion for fashion was ignited during my time in Costa Rica, where I resided for a decade. Disappointed by the limited options available in fashion, I decided to embark on a personal expedition to create garments that resonate with my distinct style. Through years of relentless pursuit and self-teaching in menswear design, I honed my craft and explored diverse areas of expertise in the fashion realm.”
